Macau Sauna by Colour: Inside the Theme Rooms

Every theme room at Number Nine Spa is lit in its own colour: red, pink-violet or blue-violet. How a two-night guest chose by colour, and how you can.

“Last night was the red one. Tonight, the blue, please.”

That was the whole message. It came in a little after noon, from a guest who had booked two nights at Number Nine Spa (玖號水療) through this site, and it told us everything we needed. He did not know the rooms had names. He knew the colour he had spent an hour inside, and he wanted the other one.

The show at Number Nine happens in the same place every night. The hour after it does not. Each theme room is lit in a single colour, red, pink-violet and blue-violet among them. You watch the stage under one light and then a door opens on another, and that second colour is the one you actually sit inside.

The red room, in hindsight

He had booked the first night without a word about rooms, and described it to us in the car back to his hotel. The towels stop being white; the sheets, your own hands, everything picks up a warmer shade, and for the first half minute the room has no edges. Then your eyes settle and it becomes simply the warmest place you have been all day.

The hour began when the therapist began. The bath hall, the drink at the stage, the walk down the corridor: none of that was on the clock.

The blue-violet room, the second night

We passed his message to the venue, and that evening the blue-violet room was ready for him. Blue-violet does the opposite of red. It stays on the walls instead of coming to meet you, so lying down the room seems a step further away, and quieter.

The one he did not get

Pink-violet never came round in two nights. On the drive back to his hotel he said the next visit would start there.

What guests ask us about the rooms

”Can I choose the colour?”

Yes, in your booking message. Name the colour and we pass it to the venue, which prepares that room for you.

”Is the spa open all night, and are therapists there all night?”

Two separate answers. The venue itself is open 24 hours. Therapists are on duty from 15:00 to 06:00 daily (as of September 2026), and your time in a theme room falls within those hours. Outside them the bath hall and the free lobby lounge remain open to you.

”When does my hour start?”

When the therapist starts. Reception, the bath hall, the show, the corridor to your room: none of it counts.

”Can I see the rooms before I decide?”

Photos are on the Rooms & Suites page and in the gallery. The stage is on the show page, and anything else is in the FAQ.
